Divisional Information for divers and families
Hello families of divisional divers!
Congratulations to your diver for continuing on to the post season! Practice will be every day this week from 5-6.
Here are some updates and news about dive divisionals which is being held at home - Rock Creek this Sunday morning July 20, 2025. The pool will be closed to our members until 12 on that morning. I am working on letting our families and divisional guests swim at 10 when the pool would actually open. Bring your swim suits.
COMMUNICATION I will make a group text with a parent of each diver on it just in case the meet is running slower or faster than anticipated to keep everyone updated.
TIMING Open warm ups for 12 and unders will be at 7 am. 8 and unders and 9-10 divers need to be at the pool at 7. Every other age group may arrive an hour before the time on the schedule linked below.
At 7:45 they will close the boards and allow only 8 and unders to warm up for 15 minutes. Each age group will have their own warm up for about 15 minutes before their event. 8 and u girls will begin at 8:00. It usually takes about 20 minutes for each 8 and under and 9-10 group. The schedule will follow a pattern similar to this:
7-7:40am open warm ups for 12 and unders
7:40am 8 and under warm ups only
8:00am 8 and u girls compete
8:20am 8 and u boys compete
8:40am 9-10s warm up and 8 and unders receive ribbons
9am - 9-10 girls compete
9:20am - 9-10 boys compete
9:40am – 11-12s warm up and 9-10s receive ribbons
At the conclusion of each event, the ribbons will be given for the prior age group while the next age group of kids are warming up. The schedule for the day is linked here Last year's divisional schedule. Divers in 11-12, 13-14 and 15-18 age groups do not need to arrive at 7 am if they choose not to. You do need to plan to be early and plan for traffic. At the latest, 11-12s can arrive at 9, 13-14s may arrive at 10 and 15-18 may arrive at 11. Just check the volunteer schedule below to ensure you will be there in enough time to work your shift.
BRING FINS Your child will get a surprise personalized "fin" outside the front door on that Sunday morning. You bring this fin to the meet and we stick them in the ground in our team area. If your child is swimming in swim divisionals bring that fin to the swim meet Saturday! This is for fun and spirit! Our team area will be to the left of the pavilion in the grass, so find a spot near us. Parents and kids can stay under the tents or pavilion at any time during the meet if it is hot!
BRING WITH YOU Bring lots of sunscreen and water. We will sell delicious concessions of breakfast sandwiches, yogurt parfaits, fruit, donuts, bagels for breakfast and will order pizza to sell or something similar for lunch if we need to.
VOLUNTEERS MANDATORY Each family will be asked to volunteer as a table worker, judge, set up, clean up or concession worker. If you have children who would like SSL hours they can volunteer with a parent at concessions, set up or clean up. We will be setting up Saturday evening at 8pm and would love some extra hands to help. We share the jobs of running the meet with the other teams and get assigned jobs during each event. We filled in many of your names into slots that are close to the time your child is diving, but is not during your child’s event. Please look at this document and make sure you will be available during that assigned slot. Let us know if the slot assigned needs to be swapped.
ALL STAR MEET AFTER DIVISIONALS During the meet, the top 3 finishers in each group will be invited to move on to the AllStar meet which will be held about 40 min away from Rock Creek at Tanterra. This meet will take place on Wednesday July 23 for 8 and unders, 9-10 and 11-12s. Warm ups will be at 2:00 and the meet will begin at 3:00. The All Star meet for 13-14 and 15-18s is on Thursday July 24 and will also be at Tanterra. The start time is 2:00PM for warm ups and 3:00PM for the competition.
If your child is a top 3 finisher, you will need to tell the reps at the time your child's event finishes if they will be available and interested in competing in the All Star meet the following week. If you decline, the spot will go to the next place diver. There will be paid judges and do not be surprised that the scores will likely be much lower than we see during the regular season. Each team will also choose 2 wild card divers to attend the All Star meet. If your child is not a top 3 finisher, the coaches will let you know at the end of the meet this Sunday if they have been chosen as a wild card diver. If your child is unable to attend the All Star meet please email back to this email and let us know so we don't invite them and make them upset!
Here is the info about Dive meets via MCDL.
All Stars: We are utilizing Divemeets.com for registration and meet management. Because there is a quick turn around between Divisionals and All Stars, you can get a leg up on registration steps this week by having divers sign up for a free Diver ID in Divemeets.com. This is the system used in year round diving to enter meets and record scores. The scores will be entered via computer during the All Star meet. The MCDL board will run the table at All Stars and there are no parent volunteers needed in that meet. Many divers are already in the system (club divers, high school divers, previous Country Club divers, previous All Stars divers from some pre-Covid years). There is no charge; they are only entering the diver's basic information (name, address, DOB) and selecting MONTGOMERY COUNTY DIVE LEAGUE as their organization, and it takes just minutes. Even if the diver does not end up attending All Stars they will be a step ahead for any future events (club, high school, other) down the road. You can choose Riley Moffitt as the coach. There will likely be a laptop and QR code to do this at the divisional meet as well. Please reach out for any help needed in registering divers.
BENEFITS OF DRIVING ALL THE WAY TO TANTERRA If your child goes to All Stars, there is a good brewery/sandwich shop Brew Belly about 5 minutes away from the Tanterra pool on the way home if you are looking for take out or someplace to stop after the meet or on a break between events! They will do subs on a bed of french fries or lettuce for gf folks. Also near there Lone Oak Brewery. Kids can play outside while adults enjoy a beverage.
We know this is so much information, so please reach out with any questions!
Looking forward to a fun meet!
